The Place of Alternative Dispute Resolution in the New Cypriot Civil Justice System

Our partner, Nicolas Kyriakides, has co-authored a paper that has been published in the International Journal of Procedural Law (vol 13/2023/02) entitled The Place of Alternative Dispute Resolution in the New Cypriot Civil Justice System.

In collaboration with Professor Masood Ahmed and Yomna Zentani, they critically compare the new Cypriot Civil Procedure Rules on ADR with the English Civil Procedure Rules and ADR case law.

They contend that the importance of the new Cyprus Civil Procedure Rules, should not be underestimated, as these newly introduced Rules have the potential to bring about a major change to the civil justice system. Kyriakides, Ahmed and Zentani further argue that it is only with conceptual and structural changes that a transformation can result.  If this transformation is achieved, it is more likely that ADR will be accepted as being essential and has the potential to play a significant role in the Cypriot civil justice system.
