Thecla Theodorou is an Associate in the Insurance Law and Personal Injury Department at Harris Kyriakides LLC. Thecla has experience in advising major domestic and international insurance undertakings and providing legal services to individuals on insurance claims. Her main work focuses on providing advisory services to insurance undertakings relating to a broad range of complex insurance matters. Thecla has also represented insurance companies and individuals in the course of court proceedings before Cyprus Courts, including interim measures in aid of domestic or foreign litigation and arbitration proceedings. She has also previous experience in dealing with cases concerning shareholder disputes, fraudulent actions, asset tracing, liquidation proceedings and freezing injunctions in the aid of proceedings.


Recent Practice

  • Advising insurance companies on issues of compliance with the European Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD);
  • Advising insurance companies on issues of compliance with the European Directive on the taking- up and pursuit of the business of Insurance and Reinsurance (Solvency II);
  • Represented international shipping companies in the course of freezing injunctions proceedings in aid of foreign arbitration;
  • Handling EU 4th Directive claims and Green Card Claims;
  • Regularly advising insurance companies on issues of compliance with the current European and Cyprus regulatory framework;
  • Involved in disputes over the ownership of the shares of various international and national companies;
  • Involved in applications for the recognition and enforcement of international arbitral awards.
