12 November 2020 – Announcement of the Supreme Court

In light of the emergency measures announced on 11 November 2020 to curb the coronavirus pandemic by the Minister of Health, a meeting of the President and Members of the Supreme Court and the President and Vice President of the Cyprus Bar Association was held on 12.11.20 at the Supreme Court.

In light of the emergency measures announced on 11 November 2020 to curb the coronavirus pandemic by the Minister of Health and the need to take measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, particularly in Limassol and Paphos districts, a meeting of the President and Members of the Supreme Court and the President and Vice President of the Cyprus Bar Association was held on 12.11.20 at the Supreme Court.

Taking the above into account and exercising its powers, the Supreme Court has decided as follows:

Everything announced in the Announcement of the Supreme Court dated 22.10.20, remains in force for all Cyprus Courts. More particularly, the following instructions are additionally given in relation to the Courts of Limassol and Paphos districts:

• It is urged that all necessary measures are taken to avoid unnecessary attendance of the participants of the trial, including the appropriate handling of cases, follwing timely consultation with lawyers and in compliance with all protocols covered by the relevant Order of the Minister of Health.

• In relation to the backlog case schedule in Paphos district, this shall be treated as above taking into account the provisions of the relevant Order of the Minister of Health.

• The deadlines provided by the Institutions and all judicially set deadlines for the execution of judicial acts are suspended from today, 12.11.20 until 30.11.20.
